Well, the nights are drawing in, the jumpers are out in full swing and I've definitely nipped to put the heating on a few times now. The leaves are treating us all to that gorgeous wave of orange and doorways are dressed for Halloween.
This year, we had our first pumpkin picking experience! We went pumpkin picking at Rougham Estate, Suffolk. We had a wonderful time picking our own pumpkins and wheeling them around in a wheelbarrow like a real farmer. When we arrived home with our pumpkins, we put them in the bath and gave them a good shower. My daughter was on gourd duty at the sink with a cloth and bubbles and absolutely loving it. After a good scrub, the gourds and pumpkins look beautiful.
If you went pumpkin picking like us, or perhaps grew some of your own, you may have some pumpkins to spare. If you're not sure what to do with your spares this year, why not try one of these:
Things to do with a pumpkin:
Hold it and gaze at the sheer magnificence of it!
Carve it. Spooky or cute? You decide! Pumpkins look beautiful lined up in doorways this time of year.
Eat it! Pumpkin curry, pumpkin soup, pumpkin spiced cake and, of course, pumpkin pie!
Don't skip the seeds! The seeds, roasted on a baking sheet with a little oil and garlic are delicious!
Paint it. There are lots of beautiful ideas on Pinterest for painting pumpkins to display!
Draw a picture of it. Pumpkins and gourds grow in so many interesting ways and there are many varieties to choose from! Here's one I have started with watercolour pencils and drawing pens. Why not draw or paint yours?

What Halloween/Autumn fun have you been up to this year? Send us some photos! We would love to see!
